Men's Swimming Competes in Second Day of Centennial Championship

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team marked a strong second day at the Centennial Conference Swimming Championship, placing four individual swimmers in championship finals and four in consolation finals, while the 400 medley relay "A" team ended the night in third place.

Sam Kamdin, Patrick Rooney, Evan Willertz, and John Devaney earned third place in the 400 medley relay time with a time of 3:21.89, while Nick Lowell, Luke Healey, Tim Turnbull, and Henry Tavens also earned third in the consolation final, completing the event in 3:26.37.

Three Diplomats earned a spot in the 50 freestyle championship final, and they were led by Devaney's fourth place effort, as he finished the race in 20.92. Kamdin was right behind in fifth with a time of 20.94, while Ben Lockey earned seventh in the event with a time of 20.99. 

Tavens was fifth in the consolation final for the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.34. He was followed by Turnbull in sixth, finishing in 21.38, while Thomas Smolinski earned seventh in 21.54. 

Matthew Tilghman earned a spot in the 500 freestyle championship final, and he was eighth in the race with a time of 4:42.46. 

Lowell was fourth in the 200 IM consolation final, logging a 1:56.95.

The Diplomats remain in third place through the second day having totaled 194 points. 

F&M is back for the third day of the Centennial Conference Swimming Championship on Saturday with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m. Tomorrow's events include the 200 freestyle relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke.
