Men's Swimming Completes Third Day of Centennial Championship

LANCASTER, Pa.- The Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team took part in the third day of the Centennial Conference Swimming Championship on Saturday. The day was highlighted by a second-place result for the 200 freestyle relay time and silver for Henry Tavens in the 200 freestyle. 

Tavens earned second in the 200 freestyle championship final with a time of 1:40.27, while he moved from seventh to second in program history with his preliminary time of 1:39.42. Devaney was eighth in the 200 freestyle consolation final, finishing in 1:45.77.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Sam Kamdin, John Devaney, Ben Lockey, and Thomas Smolinski earned second place in the championship final in 1:22.37, while Brady Saunders, Tim Turnbull, Riley Williams, and Nick Lowell were third in the consolation final with time a of 1:25.88.

Patrick Rooney was sixth in the 100 breaststroke championship final with a time of 57.64. He stays third in program history but took 0.11 seconds off his previous best. Luke Healey led the way in the consolation final of the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.94 which became the sixth-best time in program history. Lockey was sixth in the consolation final, finishing in 59.14. 

Kamdin was fifth in the 100 backstroke championship final, completing the race in 51.06. Lowell was seventh in the consolation final, but his preliminary mark of 52.85 gives him the tenth-best time in program history. Evan Willertz was eighth in the consolation final.

Turnbull and Williams both established themselves on the F&M performance list in the 100 butterfly. Turnbull was second in the consolation final, and his time of 50.79 is the program's fourth-best time. Williams finished in fourth place in 50.92 for the program's fifth-best time. Willertz was fifth in the race with a time of 51.00.

Rooney claimed fourth in the 400 IM consolation final with a time of 4:21.09, while  Jarrett Driever was sixth in the event with a time of 4:26.11.

In individual events, the Diplomats totaled three spots in championship finals and ten consolation final berths. The Diplomats remain in third place with 324 points.

Franklin & Marshall wraps up the 2025 Centennial Conference Swimming Championship on Sunday with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m and finals at 6:00 p.m. Tomorrow's events include the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, and 400 freestyle relay.
