COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field won two gold medals on Sunday to close the Centennial Conference Championships. Mackenzie Ward repeated as the champion in the javelin and Annalise Kauffman won the 800 meters to help the Diplomats claim a share of fifth place in the team standings. That placement marks the team's best finish at the conference championship since 2022.
A day after posting the top qualifying time in the 800 meters, Kauffman won her gold medal in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.14. Her new personal best is now the sixth-fastest mark in program history.
Ward followed up her gold medal javelin throw performance during her rookie year, posting a mark of 37.20 meters on her second attempt to secure the event win. Ruth Axford claimed 11th with a 22.78 meter throw.
Bella Johnson combined for six points across a pair of sprint events, finishing the 200 meter finals in fourth place (26.13), while she was eighth in the 100 meter finals (12.86). Hayden Adams' sixth-place finish in the 100 meter hurdles came in a time of 16.90 seconds.
After placing in the steeplechase on Saturday, Katie Scott earned two more points with her seventh-place showing in the 5000 meters. With a new personal best of 18:31.00, she set F&M's tenth-best time in the event. To close out the meet, the 4x400 meter relay team of Emily Jones, Jordyn Collie, Adams, and Kauffman earned an eighth place finish (4:16.24).
Franklin & Marshall returns to competition and will be looking for national qualifiers during its trip to the West Point Twilight on Thursday, May 8 ahead of next weekend's AARTFC Regional Championships.
