LEXINGTON, Va. – Bolstered by five top 10 performances in school history – including a school record in the 200 meters from Lauren Dunnigan – the Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team excelled in its first outdoor meet of the season when it competed at the Washington and Lee Carnival. In addition to the record book times, Annalise Kauffman was the individual champion in the 5,000 meters.
Lauren Dunnigan had a great start to her outdoor season as she posted the school record in the 200 meters (25.72 seconds) and had the second-fastest 100 meter dash time in program history (12.40). She was additionally sixth in the 100 meter hurdles (15.61 seconds). The other top 10 mark on the track came from Lillian Williams as she placed sixth in the 400 meters (1:01.02) with the ninth-fastest time in school history.
Kauffman was one of three Diplomats in the top five of the 5,000 meters as she finished with a time of 19:00.43. Her closest competition came from teammate Tara Silverman (19:14.69) who was the runner-up in that event. Jordyn Collie (20:18.33) placed fifth in the first outdoor 5K of the year.
Other top finishers for Franklin & Marshall on the track included Maddy Schultz (1:14.46 in 400 meter hurdles), Abby Bachman (5:13.11 in the 1,500 meters), and Katie Scott (12:11.32 in the steeplechase). Scott's performance earned her a sixth place finish in the final standings, while Schultz and Bachman each finished 12th in their events.
In the field events, Hayden Adams posted the eighth-best mark in the high hump in school history when she cleared 1.51 meters to placed sixth. Adams was also seventh in the pole vault as she cleared 3.08 meters. Max McCoy posted the ninth-best hammer throw in school history (36.29m) and led the team in the discus with a mark of 27.89 meters. Returning NCAA All-American Mackenzie Ward led the individual placements as she took third in the javelin (38.90 meters) in her season debut. Amanda Imhauser added another strong showing as she placed fourth in the long jump with her best mark coming at 4.92 meters.
Women's track & field will continue its outdoor season this coming week with Gettysburg hosting the Little Three Meet that will begin on Friday, March 27 and continue through Saturday, March 28.
