MALVERN, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team jumped out to a great start in the opening round of the Swarthmore Invitational, held at White Manor Country Club on Sunday. The Diplomats fired a team score of six-over par to lead the field of 16 teams through one round of play. Additionally,
David McNamara was the only golfer to shoot under-par as he finished two-under par to lead 83 individual competitors.
McNamara tallied five birdies and 10 pars during the opening round to take first after day one of the tournament.
Oliver Clark followed by carding two birdies and 12 pars to end the day with a score of two-over par to tie for sixth.
Jake Kurtzman and
Max Silverman both registered a score of three-over par to tie each other for eighth in the standings. Kurtzman tallied three birdies and eight pars, while Silverman notched two birdies and 11 pars during the first round.
Wayne He ended his day with one birdie and 10 pars to fire a seven-over par and tie for 34th in the standings.
Franklin & Marshall looks to finish strong as it plays the final two rounds of the Swarthmore Invitational on Monday.
