Men's Golf Leads Opening Round of Home Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team hosted the opening round of the F&M Spring Invitational at Bent Creek Country Club on Sunday. The Diplomats' "A" team shined on day one, shooting a 284 (even-par) to sit in first place out of 15 teams competing. The F&M "B" team followed with a 308 (24-over par) to hold onto second place, while the "C" team carded a 322 (38-over par) to maintain seventh place.

The "A" team was led by Max Silverman tallying eight birdies and seven pars for a 66 (five-under par) to lead the field of 78 golfers. Oliver Clark followed with two birdies and 15 pars for a 70 (one-under par) to sit in second place. Wayne He also had a strong opening round, recording four birdies and 11 pars for a 71 (even-par) to place in third after 18 holes. Winston Thai carded a 78 (six-over par) to tie for 14th, while David McNamara shot an 81 (10-over par) to hold a tie for 36th.

Jake Kurtzman was the top-scorer on the F&M "B" team, registering three birdies and 10 pars to shoot a 75 (four-over par) to sit in a tie for seventh. Pablo Rodriguez carded a 77 (six-over par) to maintain a tie for 14th place. Ryan Klarreich and Aaron Liu both finished one-stroke behind Rodriguez as they notched a 78 (seven-over par) to tie each other for 22nd. Riley Norton ended Sunday's round with an 82 (11-over par) to hold a tie for 39th in the standings.

Sebastian Botero led the Diplomats' "C" squad as he recorded two birdies and 10 pars to shoot a 77 (six-over par) and tie for 14th. Harrison Brown concluded the round with a 79 (eight-over par) to place himself in a tie for 28th. Harry Zhang recorded an 82 (11-over par) in the round to tie for 39th in the field. Tommy Marshall notched an 84 (13-over par) on Sunday to sit in a tie for 50th.

Franklin & Marshall looks to hold onto the lead as it tees-off the second round of its home invitational on Monday, starting at noon.
