The Diplomats erased the margin in the bottom of the inning with five runs as Meredith Morgan (Fr., Phoenixville, PA/Owen J. Roberts) led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a ground out by Sam Basuk (Fr., New York, NY/Indian Hills). Barbara Sasso (Fr., Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills) reached on an error by Irene Pastorino at second base which moved Morgan to third base. Sasso stole second base and Jessika Mancino (Fr., Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) laid down a bunt single to load the bases and turn the Diplomats' lineup over to bring up Johns.

Johns roped a double to right centerfield to clear the bases and tie the game at 6-6 before advancing to third base on a throw home. Crouthamel grounded out to score Johns for a 7-6 lead. Incorvaia tripled to right field and Jones tripled to centerfield to drive in the team's eight run for an 8-6 lead.
