FT. MYERS, Fla. - Franklin & Marshall's softball team split
the day in Florida with a 15-1 win over UMass-Dartmouth and an
eight inning, 6-1 loss to Fredonia State. The Diplomats moved to
9-3 on the season.
Meredith Morgan drove in four runs on three doubles to aid her
cause in the circle. She worked a complete game, striking out 10
batters and surrendering an unearned run. Lauren Incorvaia added
two more home runs - both three-run blasts - to run her
season total to six. That breaks the school's single season record
for round trips, set by Incorvaia back in the 2006 season. She
finished the day with six RBIs on and two additional hits. Jessika
Mancino had three runs on as many hits. She stole a pair of bases.
Mancino had three hits and two steals again in the second game.
The Diplomats had five opportunities to win in regulation, but
repeatedly stranded runners in scoring position sending the game
into extra innings.
The Diplomats wrap up their Florida swing tomorrow with games
against Wisconsin-Superior and Western New England.
