Squash Ready for Road Weekend

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's squash teams will head out on the road for their first full weekend slate of action of the season. The men's and women's teams will open the weekend at Williams tonight at 7:00 p.m.

F&M's men are riding high after Wednesday's 8-1 win over #9 Penn at Mayser Center. It was the first victory over a top ten team in the John White era. The Diplomats (2-2) are slated for three matches on the weekend. In addition to tonight's tilt with the Ephs (1-1), F&M will face St. Lawrence (2-1) at Hamilton on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and then face Hamilton (0-3) on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

The Diplomats went 1-2 against the group last year. F&M is 8-13 against #11 Williams and is looking to halt a seven-match skid against the Ephs.  The Diplomats are 4-1 against #16 St. Lawrence and 8-0 against #21 Hamilton. In last year's meeting, the Diplomats fell 5-4 to Williams and St. Lawrence and handed Hamilton an 8-1 loss.

The F&M women (0-3) are looking for their first win of the season after opening the year with a buzzsaw slate. The Diplomats fell 9-0 to #7 Cornell, #4 Princeton and #5 Penn. They'll have four opportunities to collect the first victory of the year this weekend.

Following tonight's match at #9 Williams (0-2), F&M will play a pair on Saturday against #26 St. Lawrence (0-2-1) and Colgate (0-0) beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton. The Diplomats will wrap up the weekend on Sunday morning against #15 Hamilton (1-1) at 10:00 a.m.

Last season, F&M and Williams met in women's action for the first time seven years. The Ephs took an 9-0 win to improve to 12-8 against F&M. The Diplomats defeated St. Lawrence 5-4 last year for their third win in as many matches against the Saints to make the series 7-3 in favor of SLU.

The meeting with Colgate is the first since a 6-3 F&M win in 2006-2007. F&M has won five in a row against Colgate and leads the series 5-1. The Diplomats own an 8-6 series lead against Hamilton. The Continentals have closed the gap with wins in each of the last three seasons, including last year's 6-3 win over F&M.

Resluts will be furnished on GoDiplomats.com as they become available throughout the weekend. A full recap of the weekend will be published on Sunday.
