HERSHEY, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall shot 312 over the
final 18 holes of the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National
Championships. The Diplomats dropped from 16th to 21st on the final
day, finishing in the same spot as they did at the 2009 national
championships.
Methodist University earned its 10th NCAA Division III Men's
Golf championship in dramatic fashion, as Josh Schrader sank the
winning putt on the 18th green for a one-stroke victory over
Guilford College in a rain-delayed final round Friday at Hershey
Links.
Methodist finished with a team total of 1177 in the four days of
competition (307-290-287-293), while Guilford finished at 1178
(303-297-295-283) and Huntingdon College took third at 1181
(309-290-290-292).
F&M's Andrew Woods shot
75 on Friday wrapping the 72-hole tournament in 305 strokes and in
a tie for 53rd place. Cameron
Warner shot 81 for a 307 in the tournament to tie for 64th. Brendan Mohler and Jeremy Rubin
carded the same scores on Friday as they did on Thursday. Mohler
carded a 76 for a 310, leaving him tied for 77th place. Rubin shot
81 for a final total of 317 strokes. Rubin finished tied for 97th.
Danny
Liebowitz shot 80 for a 320 on the tournament. He finished in
107th place. 190 golfers started the tournament.
Tain Lee of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College finished off a
wire-to-wire victory in the individual standings with a round of 70
Friday, ending the tournament at seven-under-par 280 (69-69-72-70)
for a three-stroke win over Mitchell Fedorka of the University of
La Verne.
