ELVERSON, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall failed to defend its two-straight Centennial Conference (CC) golf titles. The Diplomats finished in sixth place in the seven team field at the 2011 CC Championships, 35 strokes behind McDaniel, which won its sixth CC crown since competition began in 1994.

McDaniel came from behind with a third-round score of 305 to capture the Centennial men's golf championship Sunday at Stonewall North GC. Gettysburg's Peter Ruymann took medalist honors with a three-round total of 224. Cameron Warner was the Diplomats' top finisher, tying McDaniel's Greg Bowman for fourth place with a 232.

Swarthmore's Paul Weston and Dickinson's Joey Goldstein entered the final 18 holes with a three-shot lead at 150. But both players were unable to break 80 in the final round, as Weston carded an 80 and Goldstein an 85 to fall by the wayside. Ruymann fashioned a one-over-par 71 to become the sixth Bullet and first since 2002 to capture Conference Player of the Year honors. Gettysburg finished in second place with a 940, eight strokes off of McDaniel's championship pace.

Dave Gilbert was the only Diplomat besides Warner to finish in the top 20. He shot 245, taking 20^th place. Jeremy Rubin tied for 22^nd at 247, while Danny Liebowitz was 27^th with a 252 to round out the scoring foursome. Brendan Mohler tied for 28^th place with a 253.
