ASHLAND, Va. – Brad Lankler carded rounds of 68 and 67 on his way to totaling a five-under-par 135, good for first place at the Ted Keller Memorial. As a team, the Diplomats fired 590 over two days, taking second place.
The tournament, hosted by Randolph-Macon College on Monday and Tuesday at Hanover Country Club in Ashland, Va., is Lankler's first win of the season and a third straight finish in the top five for the team.
Lankler was one of only two players to break par in any round on the par-70, 6,700-yard course, doing so on both days. Second place went to Randolph-Macon's Matt McDonagh at 142, giving Lankler a seven-stroke victory.
Daniel Furman shot a seven-over-par 147 (73-74) over the two days, earning seventh place.
Also cracking the top 10 for the Diplomats was Stephen Colodny, who scored 74-75 for a total of 149, good for ninth place.
Benjamin Mitchell shot 161 to finish in a tie for 54th, while Jon Meissner rounded out F&M representation by recording a 167 to claim a tie for 69th.
Christopher Newport won the team title, just beating out the Diplomats by one stroke with a score of 589.
F&M returns to action on Monday, hosting the F&M Fall Invitational at Bent Creek Conutry Club in the team's final competition of the fall.
