LANCASTER, Pa. – Benjamin Mitchell fired a one-under 70 to lead Franklin & Marshall to a first place finish at the F&M Fall Invitational Monday afternoon at Bent Creek Country Club. Mitchell took medalist honors and was the only player in the 94-player field to shoot under par.
The Diplomats 'Blue' Team finished at 294 in the 19-team tournament while Muhlenberg placed second at 299 and the F&M 'White' team took third at 307.
The win is the first Mitchell in his career and the fourth top-five finish for the Diplomats this fall.
Brad Lankler tied for second with an even-par 71 on the 6,434-yard course. Jon Granville also finished in the top 10 with a two-over 73. Steve Altieri carded 74, good for 12th place while Stephen Colodny placed 17th at 76.
Byung Uk Lee shot 76 (17th), Daniel Furman finished at 78 and Jon Meissner came in 33rd at 79. Andrew Woolley turned in an 82 and Jared Brown shot an 84 for the Diplomats.
The tournament wrapped up the fall portion of the F&M schedule.
