LANCASTER, Pa. – Alex Bilodeau's first collegiate goal was a memorable one, notching a 2OT tally to deliver the No. 2 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team an exciting 2-1 win over Ursinus on Wednesday afternoon at Tylus Field.

The Centennial Conference (CC) victory brought the Diplomats to a perfect 10-0, 3-0 CC on the year, while the Bears fell to 1-5-2, 0-2-1 CC. 

Just 29 seconds into the second overtime stanza, a Ursinus' foul on the left side led to the penalty kick attempt from F&M's freshman midfielder. Bilodeau fired a rocket on net that the Bears' goalkeeper made a diving lunge at, but was unable to get a hand on the attempt. 

In the first half, the game began at a fast pace with a flurry of scoring chances from both sides. The Diplomats got on the board first when a trademark, long Janse Schermerhorn throw in from the left side, was flicked off the head of Chase TenBrook to a waiting Devon Malfitano from 10 yards out. Malfitano sent a low shot past the goalkeeper for his second of the season, giving F&M the 1-0 advantage. 

Ursinus' Ryan Butler needed just over a minute to answer, getting behind the Diplomats' backline with a breakaway down the left side and sending a low shot that careened off the hands of Trevor Britton and into the back of the net to even the contest.

Both teams traded chances in the second half, but neither squad managed to light the scoreboard. The first overtime period proved to be uneventful with F&M outshooting Ursinus by a 3-0 margin, but not threatening until the second overtime stanza.

The shot count was heavily in the Diplomats' favor at 18-6, including a 10-1 edge past the first half. Corners also belong to F&M at 7-1. Britton (10-0) was solid in net, stopping one shot in 100 minutes of action. His counterpart Vince Maiorino (1-5-2) suffered the loss after turning back five attempts and allowing both goals. 

Ben Draheim paced the attack with four shots, followed by three from Schermerhorn. 

The Diplomats return to the pitch on Saturday, traveling to Muhlenberg for a 7:00 p.m. showdown.
