Lankler Tied For Fourth After Day 1

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Franklin & Marshall's Brad Lankler carded a 71 to tie for fourth place out of 215 competitors in round one of the 2017 NCAA DIII Championship, being held at the par-72, 6,844-yard El Campeon Golf Course in Florida. 

The Diplomats totaled a 313 and currently stand in in a tie for 23rd place out of 42 competing schools. Huntingdon paces the field with a 293, while Huntingdon's Addison Lambeth leads the player leaderboard with a 69. 

Lankler shot a one under on the day after getting off to a scorching start. The senior Diplomat began action on the back nine and eagled his opening hole on the par-five, 10th. He followed with a birdie on 11, his first of three on the afternoon. 

Stephen Colodny tied for 53rd after 16 holes by totaling a 76 in round one. Starting on the back nine, he fired a pair of birdies and was just one over after his first nine holes. Ben Mitchell finished with an 81 and a pair of birdies. He picked up his play on the final nine holes of the afternoon, shaving three strokes off his top-half total.  

Justin Lankler carded an 85, and Jon Meissner shot an 86 to round out F&M's participants.

Diplomats are slated to open the second round tomorrow on the first hole, with Meissner teeing off first at 12:50 p.m, followed by J. Lankler, Mitchell, Colodny and B. Lankler in 10-minute increments.
