Lankler Atop Leaderboard Heading into Final Round

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Franklin & Marshall's Brad Lankler continued his historic run at the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship by carding a 72 on Thursday, moving to one over through three rounds, a mark that places him tied for first heading into tomorrow's final day of competition.

Lankler, who is competing as an individual after F&M failed to make the 18-team cut, has totaled a 217 (71-74-72) through the opening 54 holes. He is tied atop the leaderboard with Texas at Tyler's Sam Hill, who shot up the standings today with a low-round of 70. A trio of competitors are close behind at two over.

The Diplomats' senior golfer registered five birdies on the day, including four on the back nine at the par-72, 6,888-yard El Campeon Golf Course. Lankler was on fire through his final five holes of the round, with a pair of birdies on par fives and a birdie on a par three that allowed him to jump six places in the standings from yesterday.

Lankler's highest-ever finish at the NCAAs is sixth place, which he earned after shooting a 298 (73-72-77-78) at the 2016 Championships. Teammate Stephen Colodny holds the program's highest-ever finish with a fourth-place showing (297) at last year's Tournament.

He will look to record the school's first-ever NCAA Individual Championship when round four concludes tomorrow at the Las Colinas Golf Course. Lankler's tee time is set for 9:30 a.m.
