HARRISBURG, Pa. – Ben Mitchell led Franklin & Marshall to a third-place finish out of 16 teams at Penn State Harrisburg Invitational over the weekend. The two-day tournament was played on the par-71, 6,420 Country Club of Harrisburg Course. McDaniel took the team title at 588 (296-292), followed by York with rounds of 302-303 for a 605. The Diplomats ended with a 610 after finishing with a 304 on day one and adding two strokes today for a 306.
Mitchell finished fourth in the field of 83 competitors. He fired identical rounds of 74 to finish at 148, just five strokes shy of McDaniel's Shawn MacBurnie. Drew O'Hern carded a 73 on the first day before falling back with an 80 in today's round and ended with a 152 for an 18th place finish.
Justin Lankler shaved four strokes off Saturday's 79 and came in with a 75 for a 154 and a 20th place finish while Ian Murray tied for 35th (157) with rounds of 78 and 79. Colin Peters rounded out the F&M group with a 164 (86-78).
The Diplomats continue the fall portion of their schedule on Saturday at the two-day Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont at the Downingtown Country Club.
