Box Score

Box Score

SALISBURY, Md. – Franklin & Marshall's baseball team fell to Salisbury by a 13-1 score on the road Tuesday afternoon in non-conference competition.

The Diplomats slipped to 5-8-1 on the year while the Sea Gulls improved to 11-7.

Salisbury, who received votes in the latest NCBWA/D3Baseball.com National Rankings, delivered a steady dose of offense throughout the contest as the Sea Gulls totaled 18 hits and three walks.

Two runs on two hits and an error got the first Salisbury runs on the board in the bottom of the second before three-run frames in both the fourth and fifth innings placed the Diplomats in an 8-0 hole. A pair of RBI doubled in the sixth brought the score to 10-0 and the Seas Gulls wrapped up their spree with three runs on four hits in the seventh.

F&M got on the scoreboard off a fielder's choice RBI in the ninth but was unable to get any closer.

Starting pitcher Andrew Mascis suffered the loss after being charged with eight earned on 10 hits in five innings of work. Austin Heenan garnered Salisbury's win with seven innings of shutout baseball, allowing three hits and striking out seven.

Justin Cavegn and Don DiLoreto both registered doubles for F&M, who combined for five hits. J.J. Freeman drew a pair of the team's three walks on the afternoon.

The Diplomats are slated to return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Messiah for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
