HARRISBURG, Pa. — First-year Jared Berlin finished first in the individual standing and led Franklin & Marshall to the team title at Penn State Harrisburg Invitational held on Sunday and Monday. The two-day tournament was played on the par-71, 6,420 Country Club of Harrisburg Course and featured ten teams. The Diplomats ended with a 604 (304-300) for the team title followed by Lebanon Valley (607) and Penn State-Berks (626).
Berlin had a four-under 67 on day one with six birdies during the round. He finished at four-over with a 75 of the second day of competition for a two-round even-par 142. Seiichiro Nakai tied for fourth after firing rounds of 79 and 72 for a 151. Nakai finished strong with three birdies in the final round.
Justin Lankler was 10th after rounds of 77 and 78 for a 155 and Steve Nicholas was a shot behind to finish in the team scoring. Nicholas had an 81 on day one, before shaving off six strokes for a 75 on the final day. Kevin McGloin had a 161 (82-79) to round out the F&M team.
F&M returns to action on Saturday for the two-round Montgomery Cup held at the Shawnee Country Club.
