ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's golf team got the spring season off to a great start as its top four scorers combined for a 6-over par day. The Diplomats lead by 17 shots after one round of the McDaniel Spring Invitational. F&M has four of the top five golfers in the field after day one, including co-leaders Jas Fuhrer and Michael Gallagher who both shot 1-over par in the season opener.
This weekend's opening tournament bodes very well for continued success throughout the season as five of the six Centennial Conference schools make up the field. Co-preseason favorite Gettysburg is in second place behind the Diplomats heading into Sunday's final round.
F&M Finishers
- Jas Fuhrer and Michael Gallagher are tied for first after one round. Both Fuhrer and Gallagher fired 1-over rounds of 73.
- Jared Berlin and Dominic Sculti are just one shot behind their teammates/tournament leaders after turning in rounds of 74 (+2).
- With the top four scoring golfers, F&M has four of the top five individuals in the field after one round of play.
- Tyler Wassell shot 7-over (79) in his season debut. Wassell is sitting just outside of the top 10.
