FLEETWOOD, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team is holding a strong 14 shot advantage after one round at the Knights Invitational hosted by Arcadia. The Diplomats posted a team score of 294 on day one as their closest competition currently comes from Centennial foe Swarthmore and Stevens. Both of those schools totaled team scores of 308 during the first of two rounds at this weekend's event.
In addition to the team lead, Jas Fuhrer is leading all individuals as carded his career-low round of 69 (-3) on the par-72 course. Fuhrer was the only player to finish in the red on Friday. An even par-72 was the next best score from the field as Stevens' Eddie Sol and New Jersey City's Evan Stoker are currently three shots off Fuhrer's pace.
Dominic Sculti, Michael Gallagher, and Roy Anderson are back-to-back-to-back in the standings with rounds of 74, 75, and 76, respectively. All four of F&M's scoring players are among the top 10 in the field of 55 players. Shane Lawler fired an opening round 80 and sits in the top half of the field heading into Saturday's second and final round.
Second round action at the Knights Invitational will get underway on Saturday morning. This weekend's event is taking place at the Golden Oaks Golf Club and is the first of four 36-hole events that the Diplomats will compete at this fall.
