Fuhrer Leads Men's Golf to Team Title at Arcadia

FLEETWOOD, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team wrapped up the team title at Arcadia on Saturday with a day two score of 291. The Diplomats cut three strokes off of their team score from Friday and finished the tournament with the best team score on both days of the event. The combined score of 585 topped runner-up Stevens by 12 strokes.

In addition to the team victory, Jas Fuhrer was the individual medalist as he shot an even-par 72 on Saturday to finish with a score of 141 (-3). Fuhrer was a runner-up at three of the team's six events last spring, but finally broke through with the first medalist honors of his career today. His scores of 69 and 72 were the two best rounds of the junior's college career.

Franklin & Marshall also claimed the individual runner-up as Dominic Sculti matched Fuhrer's Saturday round of 72, finishing the tournament with a score of 146 over the 36-hole event. Sculti's individual finish was also the best of his career after a pair of third-place finishes during his first collegiate season last spring.

Michael Gallagher and Roy Anderson tied for 11th in the final standings as both finished with combined scores of 151. Anderson was one shot better today than on Friday as he posted a round of 75. Gallagher was the opposite, with a round of 75 on Friday which was followed up by a 76 on Saturday. Shane Lawler finished 18th in the field but matched Fuhrer and Sculti for the team's low round on Sunday as he shot another even-par 72. That marked an eight-stroke improvement from his opening round on Friday.

Coming off of this tournament victory, men's golf will look to continue its positive momentum next weekend as the Diplomats take part in the 36-hole Gettysburg Fall Invitational. That tournament begins on Sunday, October 3 and continues into Monday.
