WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- A five run seventh inning helped Endicott overtake Franklin & Marshall in a 6-2 loss in non-conference baseball action on Monday afternoon. The Diplomats (5-4) led 2-1 after the fourth, but two errors in the seventh handed victory to the Gulls (5-1).

Bobby Falese continued his hot start, popping one over the left field wall in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead. The Gulls used an RBI single to knot the game in the bottom half of the frame, working a leadoff walk into the tying run.

A Jakob Hoffman dinger to left field staked F&M to a 2-1 lead in the fourth. The Diplomats threatened again in the fifth, loading the bases with two away, but couldn't plate insurance runs.

Endicott erupted in the seventh to snare the lead away from the Diplomats. A sequence of an F&M throwing error, a walk, and a bunt single put the first three runners on. A single to short plated one, followed by another one-bagger up the middle to take the lead. A wild sequence saw the Diplomats snag a second out at home plate, but not until a throwing error from the catcher allowed two more unearned runs to score. One last RBI single gave the Gulls a 6-2 lead.

F&M put up one last effort in the top of the eight, as Steven Rizzo was plunked and AJ Desautels followed with a double down the left field line. Drew Butera put a shock into one, but flied out to center to end the inning, and the Diplomat chances.

Jakob Hoffman finished the day 2-4 with a single RBI to lead the Diplomats.

Thomas McLaughlin pitched a solid five innings, giving up one run on five hits. Brooks Rush (0-1) took the loss, giving up five runs (one earned) in 1/3 of an inning.

F&M gets an early start on Tuesday morning, facing off against Ithaca at 9:15 a.m.
