ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall men's golf overcame a seven stroke deficit entering Day Two of the McDaniel Spring Invitational, turning it into a seven stroke victory at The Bridges Golf Club. The Diplomats shot a final round 311, turning in a tournament-best +51 in tough conditions on Sunday.
All of F&M's entries finished outside the top-five, but all five golfers ended in the top-20 for the tournament - a well rounded effort that solidified its victory.
Jas Fuhrer and Shane Lawler both finished tied for seventh, as Fuhrer shot a five-over 77 to finish +12 on the weekend, and Lawler shot one stroke better to also end with a 156 total.
Chris Dorey turned in a scorecard that ended one shot better than Saturday, shooting a 78 (+6) to finished tied for 11th in the tourney.
Michael Gallagher was unable to replicate his six-over from Saturday, but punched in a respectable 82 (+10) to end the weekend tied for 18th.
Roy Anderson also stayed consistent, finishing in a tie for 20th after a final round 80 (+8) left him +17 for the Invitational.
The win marked the team's third of the season, and first of the spring. F&M previously won the team crown at the Golden Oaks Shootout in September, and the Gino Biondi Memorial Tournament in October.
F&M now gets ready for the Hershey Cup, a two-day tournament hosted by Rochester, beginning on Sunday, April 3 at Hershey Country Club.
