Men's Golf Takes Team Title At F&M Spring Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall's "Blue" team grabbed the team title at the F&M Spring Invitiational, held at Bent Creek Country Club on Monday afternoon, shooting a 301 to pace the field by eight strokes over Stevens. Shane Lawler nabbed second place honors after finishing in a tie for first but losing out on the handicap hole. Jas Fuhrer ended a shot behind to finish third on the day.

Lebanon Valley's Brandon Staniszewski picked up medalist honors, matching Lawler's even-par 71.

The win was F&M's third in five spring tournaments - rounding out a sweep of Centennial Conference hosted competitions. The Diplomats previously won the McDaniel Spring Invitational and Dickinson Spring Invitational on back-to-back weekends.

The Diplomat "Blue" pairing of Shane Lawler and Jas Fuhrer led the way, exchanging one-under scorecards on opposite ends of the course - Lawler punched a 34 on the front nine, while Fuhrer notched a 35 on the back. Lawler matched his effort from F&M's Fall Invitational, where he finished sixth with an even par 71. Fuhrer's 72 lands as his second-best effort of the spring, guiding him to a second straight third place finish.

Dominic Sculti's 78 was good enough for a tie for 16th in the field of 84, while Roy Anderson and Michael Gallagher ended in a tie for 22nd with 80's on their scorecards to round out the Blue team.

The F&M "White" team wasn't far behind, finishing fourth in the field of 15 with a 315 between its five golfers. Will Livingston led the way, firing a 76 to finish in a tie for ninth. Chris Dorey and Matt Durnan both finished in the top-20 with 79's, while Chris Magliocco and Tyler Wassell nabbed top-25 finishes with 81's.

The Diplomat "Stripe" squad also had a strong showing, finishing in the middle of the pack in eighth place. Connor Hicks was low-man with a 77 to finish in a tie for 13th, while Troy Kelleher ended +8 on the day with a 79 to finish 18th. Matt Tressler and Chris Lang finished their afternoons with 84 and 86 on their scorecards, respectively.
