LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team placed first in both the team standings and on the individual leaderboard at the F&M Fall Invitational, held at Bent Creek Country Club Monday afternoon. F&M's "blue team" totaled a team score of 299 to win the 13-team tournament, while the Diplomats' "white team" shot 302 as a team to place tied with Dickinson for third.
Shane Lawler was the individual winner of the invitational, shooting even-par to tie with Peter Lown of Dickinson. Lawler hit a birdie on the handicap hole, which was the third hole, to overtake Lown in the standings. The junior shot five birdies and nine pars to claim his second individual win of the fall season.
Roy Anderson closely followed Lawler, carding one-over par to place tied for third in the field of 67 competitors. The third-place finish is the highest of the season for Anderson.
Matt Durnan shot a 77 with 11 pars on the day to finish tied for 14th. Rounding out the "blue team,"
Dominic Sculti and
Max Silverman each carded a 79 to tie each other for 21st.
Matt Tressler led F&M's "white team" with two birdies and 13 pars for a 73 and fifth in the individual standings. Following Tressler,
David McNamara carded a 75 to end the day tied for seventh.
Chris Dorey shot five-over par with two birdies to place tied for ninth in the tournament.
Jack Cooley had four birdies on the day to card a 78 and finish tied for 18th.
Will Livingston ended the day with an 86 to place tied for 49th.
Competing as an individual,
Chris Magliocco tallied one birdie and 12 pars to shoot five-over par and end the tournament tied for ninth.
Neal Lavelle carded three birdies to record a round score of 82 – placing tied for 33rd.
Franklin & Marshall concludes a successful fall season and will look to carry that momentum into the spring season.
