Fuhrer Leads Men's Golf to Program's 13th CC Championship

WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team displayed a dominant showing Saturday at Waynesboro Country Club, carding an 876 overall to win its 13th Centennial Conference (CC) title. The Diplomats won their third consecutive conference championship by outscoring runner-up Gettysburg by eight strokes in the tournament. The 876-team score is the second-lowest 54-hole team scoring in CC championship history.

Jas Fuhrer registered his best scores of the season with a 68 in round two and a 69 in the final round to card an overall score of 213 – solidifying himself atop the individual leaderboard. Along with the win, Fuhrer recorded the third-lowest 54-hole individual score in CC championship history. The Diplomats' captain outlasted McDaniel's Ryan McGarry by two strokes to win the individual title.

Along with Fuhrer, Dylan Gallagher secured a top-10 finish by shooting 71 and 69 to end the tournament with an overall score of 220 – placing tied for seventh. Shane Lawler tallied 73's in both the second and third round, carding a score of 222 to end the tournament in 10th. Jack Cooley tied for 11th by ending the championship with a score of 223. Rounding out the Diplomats, Chris Dorey registered a final score of 229 to place tied for 15th in the field of 35 competitors.

With the win, Franklin & Marshall punches its ticket to the NCAA Championships, held at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The tournament will be held May 16-19.
