Men's Golf Finishes 17th at NCAA Championship

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.- The Franklin & Marshall golf team ended the 2023 NCAA Division III Championship with an overall score of 1,204 to place 17th in the team standings Friday morning at Keene Trace Golf Club. Dylan Gallagher carded a 72 in the final round, bring his overall score to 293 – leading the Diplomats and placing tied for 28th in the individual standings. Gallagher tallied three birdies on the back nine to make a strong final push in the closing round.

Chris Dorey also shot a 72 in the fourth round, bringing his score to 301 and placing himself tied for 64th. Shane Lawler ended the tournament carding a 75 to move into a tie for 72nd. Jack Cooley and Jas Fuhrer each shot a 79 on the final day of the NCAA Championship to place 83rd and 93rd, respectively.

As a team, the Diplomats improved one spot from last year's NCAA Championship appearance as F&M placed 18th in 2022. The 17th place finish is tied for the fourth-best in program history, matching the 2015 team's placement in 17th.

Carnegie Mellon took home the team title with an overall score of 1,151 in the tournament. Josh Hebrink from Piedmont carded seven-under par to finish as the individual champion.

Franklin & Marshall concludes a stellar season that saw the Diplomats win their 13th Centennial Conference title and making the program's 16th NCAA Championship appearance.
