HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team tallied a team score of 574 in The Gauntlet, hosted by Drew University, to place first in the field of 14 teams. F&M totaled a team score of 288 in round one and 286 in the final round – finishing two-under par to begin the 2023 fall slate.
Roy Anderson carded a 71 in the opening round before recording a 70 in the second round to lead the Diplomats and finish tied for fifth in the field of 75 competitors. With score of 70, Anderson tied a career-low round score after carding a 70 in the opening round 2021 Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic.
Shane Lawler closely followed Anderson on the leaderboard – recording a final score of one-under par to place tied for eighth.
Matt Durnan improved his score by two strokes with a 71 in the final round to end the tournament tied for 13th – finishing even-par.
Max Silverman recorded a 75 before tallying a 73 in the closing round to finish the tournament tied for 30th.
Jack Cooley rounded out the Diplomats with a final score of five-over par to place tied for 40th on the individual leaderboard.
Franklin & Marshall looks to build upon the great start to the fall season as it prepares to compete in the DIII Northeast Elite two-day tournament, held at Williamsport Country Club. Round one will be held on September 30th at 8:00 a.m.
