WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's golf team finished the opening round of the DIII Northeast Elite Tournament on top of both the individual and team leaderboards.
Shane Lawler ended the round with a score of 70 (one-under par) to be the only competitor in the field of 58 to card a score under par. F&M as a team ended the round with a score of 296 to lead the field of 11 teams competing at Williamsport Country Club Saturday morning.
Lawler tallied four birdies on the day with an eagle on the 16th hole to finish four strokes lower than his career-round score average.
Roy Anderson continues his great start to the fall season with four birdies and nine pars - carding two-over par to place fourth.
Will Livingston concluded the opening round two strokes under his career-average with a 75 to finish tied for 10th.
Matt Tressler ended the day with a score of 78 to place tied for 19th in the field.
Matt Durnan rounded out the Diplomats shooting a 79 to end the day tied for 24th.
Franklin & Marshall looks to build upon its lead going into the final day of the DIII Northeast Elite Tournament, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
