WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The three-time defending Centennial Conference (CC) Champion Franklin & Marshall men's golf team shot seven-over par (295) in the opening round of the CC Tournament to sit in first place out of the eight teams competing. The Diplomats also had all five of its golfers finish in the top 10 of the individual standings after completing the par-72, 6,596-yard course at Waynesboro Country Club Friday afternoon.
Roy Anderson was F&M's top finisher as he completed the round with three birdies to score a 72 and finishing the day tied for second in the field of 40 competitors.
Jack Cooley also recorded three birdies, but finished one-stroke shy of tying Anderson as he ended the day with a 73 to place tied for fourth.
Shane Lawler and
Dominic Sculti each carded a 75 in the opening round to share a tie for sixth after 18 holes.
Max Silverman ended the day with a 76 to finish his first championship round tied for ninth.
Franklin & Marshall looks to separate from the rest of the competition as it begins round two of the Centennial Conference Championship on Saturday, starting at 10:30 a.m.
