LEWISBURG, Pa. – Roy Anderson shot a career-best round of 64 as he led the Franklin & Marshall men's golf team to the day one lead at The Gauntlet on Sunday afternoon. Anderson's round was the second of his collegiate career in the 60s after firing a 66 last spring at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. As a team, the Diplomats (+4 team) lead Centennial Conference foes Gettysburg and McDaniel by five strokes heading into Monday's final round.
Anderson had five birdies and one eagle during his opening round at The Gauntlet. That scorecard included three consecutive birdies on holes two through four, while adding an eagle on the par-5 15th hole at the Bucknell Golf Club. He currently leads Dickinson's Colin McMahon-Shea for the individual lead by a single stroke heading into the second and final round.
Max Silverman was the Diplomats' second-leading scoring with his round of 72 (+2) which has him in a tie for 13th in the field of 75 players. Oliver Clark and Winston Thai both carded rounds of 74 (+4), while Shane Lawler sits at six-over after 18 holes. Silverman and Thai both carded three birdies throughout their rounds, while Clark added two more.
