Wang Named CC ROTY, Vela Places on All-Sportsmanship Team

LANCASTER, Pa.- Franklin & Marshall first-year women's golfer Shuyi Sarah Wang became the Diplomats' first ever Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year, while Janie Egana Vela was picked to represent F&M on the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. 

Shuyi Sarah Wang impressed throughout the 2024-25 season, as she was a medalist at five tournaments, finished in the top five eight times, and finished no worse than ninth across 10 events. Her medals came at the McDaniel Fall Invitational (tied for first), F&M Fall Invitational, McDaniel Tri-Meet, Dickinson Spring Invite, and Susquehanna Tri-Match. Across 11 rounds, she averaged a 80.6 strokes per round (+9), while her best round came when she shot 72 (+1) to win the F&M Fall Invitational from the Overlook Golf Course. 

Janire Egana Vela earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team for the second-consecutive season. This season, she averaged 87.3 strokes per round (+16) and earned her first career medal at the McDaniel Invitational from the South Hills Golf Club, opening the fall with a round of 85 (+13). Across ten tournaments, she finished in the top three on four occasions and garnered eight top-ten finishes.

The Franklin & Marshall women's golf team claimed third place at the 2025 Centennial Conference Women's Golf Championship, marking the third-straight year of earning bronze.
