Sarah Wang Leads After First Round of McDaniel Spring Invite

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa.- Sarah Wang maintains the top spot through the first round of the McDaniel Spring Invitational from The Bridges Golf Club, carding a 79 (+7) through the first 18. F&M ranks in fourth place in the team standings and will start Sunday's round six strokes behind second place.

Starting on the tenth hole, Wang birdied the first two holes before closing out her first nine with a 37 (+1). She carded a 42 (+6) on the back nine, ending the day two strokes ahead of second place with a 79 (+7).

Allie Tarreto totaled 83 (+11) strokes to maintain fifth place, bouncing back from a +7 (43) back nine with a +4 (40) front nine, posting a par on six consecutive holes later in the round. Riya Sood is tied for 29th after posting a 97 (+25), while Emily Pollard completed F&M's team score with a 105 (+33), while she is tied for 44th. Olivia Kim logged a 114 (+42) to tie for 51st place.

F&M ranks in fourth place in the team standings after the first round with a team score of 364 (+76). They have the second-best team score among four competing Centennial Conference schools. Catholic leads with a 343 (+55) after Saturday, while nearby competition for F&M entering the second day includes Gettysburg with 358 (+70) in second place, Stevenson with 359 strokes (+71) in third place, and St. John Fisher in fifth place with 365 strokes (+77). 

The Diplomats will conclude McDaniel Spring Invitational on Sunday.
