Men’s Golf Set for Program’s 18th NCAA Championship Appearance

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Following the program's 15th Centennial Conference (CC) Championship title, the Franklin & Marshall men's golf team prepares to make its 18th appearance in the NCAA Championship when it tees off on Tuesday morning. The Diplomats return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2024, where F&M placed 14th in the field of 43 teams. Head coach Deryl Denlinger will send the CC Championship-winning team of Oliver Clark, Wayne He, Jake Kurtzman, David McNamara, and Max Silverman to the four-day event, hosted at Mission Inn Resort and Club.

Oliver Clark finished in a tie for eighth in the CC Championship, recording a 216 score in the tournament. The sophomore carded one eagle, seven birdies, and 38 pars across three rounds to finish even-par. Clark averages a round score of 73.5, which is currently second-best on the team. The Baltimore, Maryland native fired a season-low round score of 68 in the opening round of The Gauntlet in September. Clark also had his best finish come in early-October at the Sinking Valley Collegiate Classic, placing second in the tournament.

Wayne He ended the conference championship with an even-par across the three-day tournament, finishing in a tie for eighth. He notched 12 birdies and 31 pars in the CC Championship to finish in the top-10 in the tournament for the second-consecutive season. The sophomore holds an average round score of 73.7 this year with three top-five finishes. He shot his season-best round score of 69 during the first round of the Dickinson Spring Invitational en route to placing third in the tournament.

Jake Kurtzman finished the CC Championship on a high note, carding the tournament's lowest score in the third round with a 67. The 67 was also the second-lowest round score for the Diplomats this season. Kurtzman tallied one eagle, 11 birdies, and 33 pars to place sixth in the individual standings of the conference tournament. The first-year currently averages a 74.6 score this year. Kurtzman had his highest finish come in the F&M Spring Invitational, registering a 149 to place fifth.

David McNamara posted 10 birdies and 32 pars in the Centennial Championship to tie for 20th in the individual standings. McNamara averages a 76.8 round score this year with his best round coming on the first day of the Swarthmore Spring Invitational, carding a 69. The junior tied for fourth in that tournament, shooting eight-over par in the three-day event.

Max Silverman led Franklin & Marshall throughout the CC Championship, shooting a 211 (five-under par) score for the tournament to place fourth in the field of 40 individual competitors. The junior recorded one eagle, eight birdies, and 41 pars during the three-day tournament. Silverman holds a team-leading 72.5 average score per round this season, playing in 23 rounds this year. The Old Westbury, New York native notched six top-10 finishes, three top-five placements, and two tournament victories this season with his most recent win coming in the F&M Spring Invitational. Silverman's 66 in the opening round of the home invitational is the team's lowest round score, so far this spring.
