ALLENTOWN, Pa. – For the fourth time this
season the Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team has blanked
its opponent. Friday's victim was Muhlenberg, who fell 9-0 to the
Diplomats in a Centennial Conference (CC) match. F&M improved
to 10-7, 6-2 CC overall and secured a conference playoff spot,
while the Mules fell to 4-8, 2-6 CC.
In number one singles, Ross Silverberg defeated Jordan Rutt 6-1,
6-4. Doug Silverstein breezed past Robbie Goldwein 6-1, 6-1 in the
number two spot. In the number three spot, Cameron Relic earned a
6-3, 6-2 win over Yoni Farber.
Eric Rouff beat Matt Kral 6-2, 6-1 in the number four spot, and
James Tunner won 7-6 (8-6), 6-0 over Wayne Mitchel in the number
five spot. Peter Bookman, playing in number six, defeated Mark
Apostolos 6-0, 7-5.
In doubles action, the number three duo of Relic and Samuel
Stone swept Farber and Apostolos 8-0. Silverberg teamed up with
Bookman in number one doubles to earn an 8-1 win over Rutt and
Goldwein.
In the number two spot, Silverstein and Tunner defeated Kral and
Mitchel by a score of 8-4.
The Diplomats host Swarthmore on Saturday, April 24 to close out
regular season play. The CC contest is scheduled to begin at 1
p.m.
