LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall picked up its third straight win with a 6-3 victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) men's action Sunday afternoon. F&M took over the third spot in the conference standings and improved to 9-5, 5-2 CC. The Fords fell to 7-8, 5-2 CC.
F&M took a quick 2-0 lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Ross Silverberg teamed up with William MacArthur for an 8-1 at No. 1 while Doug Silverstein and Tommy Weibye were 8-2 victors at No. 2. Haverford picked up a win in the third spot for a 2-1 score going into singles play.
The Diplomats took four out of the six singles matches to pull away for the 6-3 win. Weibye defeated Hailu Yang 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3 and MacArthur bested Andy Dougherty 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3. Silverstein won 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 and James Tunner wrapped things up with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, win at No. 6.
F&M returns to action on Wednesday when the Diplomats host Gettysburg at 4 p.m.
