YORK, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall's men's tennis team won its fifth-straight meet after edging Dickinson 5-4 in a Centennial Conference competition Saturday. The win clinched the No. 3 seed for the Diplomats in next weekend's CC playoffs and improved F&M to 7-2 CC, 11-5 overall. The Red Devils fell to 3-6, 8-8.
The meet was knotted at 3-3 after the singles competitions before the Diplomats sealed the win with consecutive doubles victories. Ross Silverberg and William MacArthur beat Ross Anstaett and Will Golinkin 8-3 and Tommy Weibye and Doug Silverstein teamed to knock off Kurt Mendelson and David London 8-2 in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Dickinson took an early 1-0 with a win in No. 1 singles before MacArthur, Silverstein and Eric Rouff won No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 to put F&M ahead 3-1. MacArthur beat Golinkin 6-3, 6-3, Rouff handled David London 6-1, 6-1 and Silverstein took care of Kurt Mendelson 6-3, 6-3.
The Red Devils won the final two singles matches setting up the crucial doubles.
