F&M Begins Spring Break Trip 1-2

ORLANDO, FLA. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team kicked off its spring break trip with a 1-2 mark to move to 2-4 on the season. The Diplomats opened the week on Sunday by dropping a 7-2 match against The College of New Jersey (3-0) followed by a 6-3 loss against ASA College (6-2) and a 7-2 win over Judson (1-6) on Wednesday in non-conference action.

Against TCNJ, Hamza Pataudi earned F&M's lone singles victory with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 decision against Jordan Cruz of the Lions from the No. 6 spot. In doubles competition, William MacArthur and Tommy Weibye cruised to an 8-4 win over Pierce Cooper and Jack August in the No. 3 position.

The Diplomats started off a pair of non-conference matches on Wednesday by battling ASA College. Doug Kaplan earned a singles victory from the No. 4 spot with a 6-2, 6-0 decision against Christian Waldron of the Avengers. Nolan Bacchieri followed with a win from the No. 5 position by cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Rolando Perez.

MacArthur and Bacchieri teamed up to defeat Kyle Joseph and Waldron 9-7 from the No. 2 position to earn F&M's only doubles win of the match.

Against Judson, the Diplomats won five of the six singles matches they competed in. Ross Silverberg won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot followed by Kaplan with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 2. Kazuhiro Tomioka cruised in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, followed by wins from Parint Lertdumrikam at No. 5 (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4)) and Geoffrey Brennan at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1).

MacArthur and Bacchieri defeated John Mittvick and Reilley Good of Judson, 8-2, in doubles action. Samuel Stone and Tomioka earned the Diplomats other doubles victory with an 8-2 decision.

F&M finishes off its spring break trip tomorrow with matches against Rensselaer at 1:30 p.m. and Wesleyan (Conn.) at 6:30 p.m.
