Diplomats Conclude Spring Break Trip

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team completed its spring break trip on Thursday with an 8-1 loss against Rensselaer and a 6-3 defeat to Wesleyan (Conn.) in non-conference action. The Diplomats return home with a 2-6 record, including a 1-4 mark on the trip.

Against Rensselaer (6-2), F&M was shutout in singles play but battled in a number of close matches. Geoffrey Brennan took Andre Vorbrodt of Rennselaer to the wire with a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7) contest at the No. 6 spot.

In doubles competition, the Diplomats picked up their lone win when Ross Silverberg and Tommy Weibye teamed up at No. 2 to down Will Dickie and Sherman Uyeno of the Engineers 8-5. In the No. 1 position, William MacArthur and Hamza Patudi were outlasted 9-8 (7-5) by Jarrett Regier and Brandon Mazzara.

Against Wesleyan (1-2), F&M earned two singles victories and a doubles win. Silverberg defeated Stephen Monk of the Cardinals 7-5, 7-5 from the No. 1 spot. MacArthur followed at No. 2 with a win over Michael King 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles action, MacArthur and Nolan Bacchieri defeated Zachary Brint and Samuel Rudovsky of Wesleyan 8-4 from the No. 1 position. Weibye and Silverberg played tough from No. 2 but were outlasted 9-7.

The Diplomats return to the court on March 30th when F&M opens Centennial Conference (CC) play with a match against Washington at 3:30 p.m.
