Diplomats Cruise Past Shoremen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team combined for five singles wins and two doubles victories to hand Washington a 7-2 defeat on Saturday afternoon to open up Centennial Conference (CC) play. The Diplomats improved to 3-6, 1-0 CC while the Shoremen fell to 3-3, 1-1 CC.

Ross Silverberg kicked off the day with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over Vishnu Rajes of Washington from the No. 1 position. William MacArthur dropped only one game at the No. 2 spot, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Tommy Weibye also won in straight sets, defeating the Shoremen's Dan Boate 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3.

The bottom half of F&M's lineup came up big for the Diplomats as Nolan Bacchieri (No. 4) outlasted his opponent 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 for the victory, followed by Alec Tunner (No. 5) with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win.

In doubles action, MacArthur and Bacchieri teamed up at the No. 1 spot to down Marc Cywinski and Vishnu Rajes by a score of 9-7. At No. 2, Silverberg and Weibye continued their strong play on the afternoon by rolling to an 8-1 victory.

The Diplomats return to the court on Tuesday to face off against Ursinus at 3:30 p.m.
