Diplomats Sweep Bears

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Ursinus on Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The Diplomats improved to 4-6, 2-0 CC with the win, while the Bears fell to 7-4, 1-2 CC.

Ranked No. 12 in the Atlantic South Region, Ross Silverberg got the action started with a straight-set win (6-3, 6-4) against Evan Stutchin of Ursinus from the No. 1 spot. William MacArthur followed with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) win at No. 2, followed by Doug Kaplan with a 6-2, 6-1 victory from the third spot.

The bottom half of F&M's lineup was as solid as the top with Nolan Bacchieri (No. 4), Alec Tunner (No.5) and Hamza Pataudi (No. 6) each picking up straight-set wins for the Diplomats.

MacArthur and Bacchieri teamed up at No. 1 to down Stuchin and Logan Metcalf-Kelly of the Bears, 9-7, in doubles competition. Silverberg and Peter Bookman followed with an 8-5 victory at No. 2, followed by Kaplan and Samuel Stone at No. 3 with an 8-4 win.

F&M returns to the court on Saturday for a pair of matches in Lancaster. The Diplomats kick off the day with a contest against CC-opponent McDaniel at 10:30 a.m., followed by a non-conference game against Salisbury at 3:00 p.m.
