MANHEIM, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team downed Christopher Newport by a score of 5-3 on Sunday afternoon in a battle of two regionally-ranked teams at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim. The Diplomats (ranked No. 12 in the Atlantic South) improved their record to 5-3, while the Captains (ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic South) dropped to 9-6.
William MacArthur picked up a win in singles action at the No. 1 spot with a 6-3, 6-2 victory, while Nolan Bacchieri was victorious in the No. 4 position when he downed Joona Rahko 6-4, 6-3.
At No. 5 singles, Joshua Kane came away with a hard-fought 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 victory and Benjamin Stern won in the No. 6 spot by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, at the No. 2 position, Tommy Weibye and Kaplan came away with an 8-5 win.
The Diplomats return to the court on Wednesday when F&M returns to Centennial Conference (CC) action with a home match at 4:00 p.m. against Ursinus.
