SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team battled Swarthmore, but fell 9-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats fell to 8-5, 4-2 CC, while the Garnet improved to 7-6, 4-0 CC.
At the No. 1 singles position, senior captain William MacArthur fought hard but fell 6-4, 6-1, while Doug Kaplan also battled but eventually fell 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot. Joshua Kane was defeated by Irving Stone by a score of 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot, while Benjamin Stern fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5.
At No. 3 doubles, F&M's Kane and Parint Lertdumrikam gave Christian Carcione and Dan Park all they could handle, but eventually fell 8-5.
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday when F&M welcomes Haverford to the Brooks Tennis Center for a 12:00 p.m. match.
