LANCASTER, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team defeated Ursinus 8-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday evening. The Diplomats stayed perfect in the CC and improved to 6-3, 3-0 CC, while the Bears fell to 10-3, 0-2 CC.
In singles action, F&M's William MacArthur earned a hard-fought win at the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 6-7 (11-13), 1-0 (10-6) victory, while Tommy Weibye followed at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. At No. 4, Joshua Kane dominated Ursinus' Matt Hope 6-0, 6-1, and Benjamin Stern won his match 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 5 spot. Parint Lertdumrikam finished up singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 6.
In doubles play, the Diplomats swept the Bears as MacArthur and Nolan Bacchieri won at the No. 1 position by a score of 8-6, while Weibye and Kane defeated Evan Lord and Logan Metcalf-Kelly 8-3 at No. 2. Stern and Lertdumrikam concluded doubles action with an 8-3 win at the No. 3 position.
F&M is back in action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Westminster, Md. to battle McDaniel. The match is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
