LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall opened up Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon with a victory, downing Muhlenberg easily by a score of 7-2. The Diplomats improved to 3-4, 1-0 CC, while the Mules fell to 1-2, 0-1 CC.
Doug Kaplan and Jack Rothman began the day with a win from the No. 1 doubles spot by a score of 8-2, followed by Nolan Bacchieri and Vasant Rajamanickam defeating Eric Chavis and Derrick Eng 8-3 from the No. 2 position.
Kaplan was successful again, this time at No. 1 singles, as the junior dominated Daniel Lakhman 6-0, 6-3. At No. 2, Bacchieri cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Jack Rothman also won win ease at No. 3, 6-1, 6-0. Jack Rothman won at No 3. by a score of 6-0, 6-3, and Will Samuels downed Eric Chavis 6-2, 6-4, while Hamza Pataudi was victorious at the No. 6 spot, 6-4, 6-3.
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday when F&M welcomes Washington to Lancaster for a 12:00 p.m. start.
