EWING, N.J. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team fell to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. The Diplomats, ranked No. 14 in the Atlantic South, slipped to 6-8, while the Lions, ranked No. 13 in the Atlantic Northeast, improved to 11-2.
At No. 1 singles, Doug Kaplan pushed Pierce Cooper to three sets, but fell 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, while Nolan Bacchieri also lost a hard-fought three-setter at No. 2 singles to Jack August by a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Vasant Rajamanickam played a tough match against Sean Fernandez at No. 5 singles, but took a tough 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 defeat.
Bacchieri and Rajamanickam gave Cooper and Billy Buchbinder all they could handle, but the TCNJ pair came out on top at 8-5.
F&M returns to Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday when the Diplomats travel to Gettysburg for a 4:00 p.m. match.
