ORLANDO, Fla. – Franklin & Marshall used clutch production from the bottom half of the lineup to snatch a 5-4 victory over Hobart on Monday afternoon in men's tennis competition. The match was the first of four that F&M will play during spring break in Orlando, Fla.
The win moved the Diplomats to 3-1 while the defeat dropped the Statesmen to 2-2.
By the Numbers
Singles victories at No.'s 4-6 from Isaac Salas, Inigo Flores, and Will Samuels gave F&M three key points at the bottom of the singles lineup. Flores battled back to from a 5-2 deficit in the second set, winning five straight games to win the set 7-5 and secure the match for the Diplomats.
Doug Kaplan was the only Diplomat to win twice, teaming up with Jack Rothman to win No. 1 singles by a score of 8-2 before taking down Hobart's Jonah Salita 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (8) at No. 1 singles.
