FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Franklin & Marshall visited Mary Washington on Sunday for nonconference men's tennis action, dropping a 7-2 decision to the 21st-ranked Eagles.
The Diplomats fell to 2-4 with the defeat, while Mary Washington improved to 10-4.
By the Numbers
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead by taking all three doubles matches. Isaac Salas and Andrew Pace fell just short at No. 3, dropping a close match 9-7.
F&M got on the scoreboard in singles play, taking two matches. However, it was too little too late as UMW had already clinched the match.
Inigo Flores continued his strong early-season form at No. 4, battling to a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win. Pace finished his solid day with a victory at No. 6, taking a dramatic 3-6, 7-6 (12-10), 1-0 (10-5) match.
