ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team officially secured its spot in the 2023 Centennial Conference Tournament with a 9-0 sweep against Muhlenberg on Tuesday. The victory guarantees the Diplomats (7-9, 4-3 CC) a top-five finish in the Centennial Conference regular season standings.
The Diplomats absolutely blitzed the Mules during doubles play and never looked back during their dominating victory. At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of Gonzalo Gentou and Pedro Norte improved to 5-1 in Centennial Conference matches this spring with an 8-1 victory. F&M's No. 1 pairing of Luke Brodsky and Zac Ashtiani picked up its third CC win of the spring. Isaac Rockower and Daniel Feigelson played together for the first time this spring and showed no signs of unfamiliarity during their 8-0 blanking of the Mules' third doubles team.
After dropping just two games in doubles, the Diplomats fell in just three games total throughout the six singles matches. Isaac Rockower, Gonzalo Gentou, Pedro Norte, and Alexander Cooke were all 6-0, 6-0 winners. Norte improved to 6-1 in CC singles play with his team-leading 10th victory of the season. Cooke was making his varsity debut this spring when he blanked his opponent. Brodsky moved to 5-2 in conference singles with his 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Zac Ashtiani picked up his third conference win at No. 1 singles.
Men's tennis concludes the regular season this Saturday with a match at Swarthmore. The Garnet are currently sitting in first place in the Centennial Conference standings.
